Your PS5 powers on, the LED pulses blue, then everything shuts off. We diagnose what's actually failing and fix it, including board-level repair when the fault is on the motherboard.
On a healthy PlayStation 5, the front indicator should briefly pulse blue and then transition to white once the console finishes its power-on sequence. The Blue Light of Death is when that transition never happens. The LED pulses blue for a few seconds and the console shuts itself down. Sometimes you'll hear the fan spin briefly, sometimes you won't. There's no picture, no audio, no menu.
It's worth understanding that BLOD isn't a single specific fault. It's the PS5 saying it failed somewhere during the boot sequence. The actual cause has to be found on the bench. The most common root causes are the power supply unit, the APU thermal interface, the HDMI section, and individual component failures on the main board.
The PS5 goes on the bench for a multi-stage power-on diagnosis. We monitor the boot sequence, check the power rails, inspect the HDMI section, and assess the thermal interface. The diagnostic process narrows the fault down to a specific subsystem so the repair targets the actual cause instead of guessing.
Once we know what's failing, we send you a written quote with the repair cost and turnaround estimate. No work goes ahead without your approval.
You can drop off your PS5 at our Orleans location during business hours, or call us about shipping it in if you're outside Ottawa. We work with clients across the region and we'll talk you through the options.
Full bench diagnosis of the power-on cycle to identify whether the BLOD is caused by the power supply, the APU, the HDMI section, or a board-level fault elsewhere.
Component-level repair on the PS5 power supply unit when capacitors or rectifier components have failed during the boot sequence.
Micro-soldering work on the PS5 motherboard when the BLOD is traced to a failed component on the main board.
Liquid metal reapplication and thermal pad replacement when the BLOD is the result of an APU overheating shutdown.
