Quick check: is it really the HDMI port?

Before you bring the console in, three quick things worth ruling out:

1. Try a different HDMI cable. Cables fail more often than people expect. If a known-good cable also produces no picture, the cable isn't the problem.
2. Try a different TV input or a different TV. Same logic. If the PS5 doesn't show on any input on any TV, it's the console.
3. Look at the port itself. Bent or pushed-in pins are visible with a flashlight. So is a port that's been shoved sideways enough that the plastic is misaligned. That's mechanical damage and it needs the port replaced.

If you've done those checks and still have no signal, the HDMI port repair is almost certainly what's needed.

What the repair involves

The HDMI connector on a PS5 is soldered directly to the motherboard, not socketed. There's no quick plug-in swap. The repair process:

1. Console teardown to expose the motherboard.
2. Microscope inspection of the existing port and the surrounding board area to assess what damage is present.
3. Removal of the damaged port using a hot-air rework station, keeping temperature controlled to avoid damage to nearby components.
4. Pad cleaning and any trace repair if the previous port came off with damage to the motherboard pads.
5. Installation of the new HDMI port, soldered to the motherboard using fine-tip work under microscope.
6. Functional test on a TV before reassembly to confirm clean signal output.

What we look at on the rest of the board

A damaged HDMI port can sometimes take adjacent components with it. Common collateral damage includes the small filter components near the port and occasionally the HDMI driver IC further inside the board. We inspect these as part of the repair so we're not fixing the port only to have you come back with the same fault a week later.
