Laptop and MacBook Board Repair by Mail

How it works

1. Get a shipping label. Use the form on our Ship to us page, or call us first if you'd like to talk it through.
2. Pack the laptop. Shut it down fully. If it got wet, don't try to turn it on again. There's no need to send the charger.
3. Drop it off with the courier. Keep the tracking number until the laptop is back with you.
4. Diagnosis and quote. We tell you what failed, what the repair involves, and what it costs. Nothing goes ahead until you approve it.
5. Repair. Board work is done under microscope, on the same bench as our walk-in repairs.
6. Back to you. We pack it and ship it back, and return shipping is paid by you.

Right after a spill

Turn the laptop off, unplug it, and don't turn it on again to check whether it still works. Running power through a wet board is what turns a spill into a short. Rice doesn't help: it can't reach the logic board, and it does nothing about the residue and corrosion that do the real damage. Ship it as soon as you can. A laptop that still works after a spill can fail days or weeks later as the residue keeps corroding the board.

Before you send it

• If you can still reach your files, back them up.
• Don't write your password on a note in the box. Once the laptop is with us, we'll contact you about passwords and your data.
• Note the model number from the bottom case. On a MacBook it starts with A, like A2338.
• Tell us what happened and when: a spill, a drop, a failed update, or no warning at all.
• Wrap the laptop in bubble wrap or a soft cloth, and fill the box so nothing moves.
