Marine Electronics Repair by Mail
A chartplotter that won't boot, a fish finder with a dead screen or an engine control board that stopped talking often comes down to one failed part. Ship it to our Ottawa bench from anywhere in Canada. We find the fault, quote it before any work, and send it back with a written summary of what was done.

Call us with the part number first
Marine units differ a lot in how they come apart and what can be tested on the bench. Before you ship, call us or send us a message with the make, the model and the part number from the label, and what the unit does or doesn't do. We'll tell you whether we can take it on and confirm what to send. We repair the board only, so never ship the engine.
How it works
- Check with us first. Give us the part number and the symptoms so we know what's coming.
- Get a shipping label. Use our Ship to us form. If your type of unit isn't in the list on the form, call or message us and we'll tell you how to send it.
- Pack it and drop it off. Keep the tracking number until the unit is back with you.
- Bench diagnosis. We find the fault and send you a written quote. Nothing is repaired until you approve it.
- Repair. Corroded boards are cleaned first, then failed parts are traced under the microscope and replaced with controlled-temperature soldering.
- Back to you. It ships back with a written summary of the board work, which helps whoever reinstalls it. Return shipping is paid by you.
Salt water changes the job
On a board that's seen salt water or months of condensation, corrosion keeps working after the unit dries out. That's why corroded boards get cleaned and the corrosion dealt with before anything else. If a unit has been wet, disconnect it and don't keep powering it on to check it. Running power through a wet board can short parts that were still fine.
Packing a marine unit
- Before you disconnect it on the boat, label the cables on your side, so putting it back is simple.
- Send the board only, never the whole engine. Mounts, brackets, transducers and wiring stay on the boat unless we ask for them.
- Wrap screens in a soft cloth before the padding, so nothing presses on the glass.
- Add a note with your name, phone number, the boat or engine it came from, and the fault.
Use the off-season
Many boats in Canada come out of the water for the winter. If a unit acted up last season, sending it in while the boat is on the hard means it can be back and reinstalled before launch, instead of costing you weeks on the water.
Marinas and service shops
Dealers and service departments ship in units for their customers too. Our marine and outboard ECU repair page for businesses explains how we work with shops.

Outboard Engine Control Boards
ECUs that stop communicating or keep the engine from starting, traced to the failed capacitor, driver IC or corroded ground.
Outboard Engine Control Boards detailsSaltwater and Condensation Damage
Ultrasonic cleaning and corrosion recovery first, then replacement of the parts that didn't survive.
